BACK by Popular Demand! His Shirt HER Way...

You asked for it & it's HERE!!! Just in time for V-day ladies 'cause there's nothing sexier than a woman in a man's shirt ;)

His Shirt HER Way is a year old now... So here's the story...

I saw these amazing shots a friend of mine had done for her husband to be and I must admit my first thought was: "I wish I had the guts..." It pushed me to think about what would make me comfortable in such a situation... Then it came to me... more coverage. lol... So it got us thinking and I had a flash of an image I'm sure was from a movie - though I can't pretend to remeber which... An image I always thought was sooooo sexy... A woman walking out of the bathroom wearing her man's shirt... wow. Now THAT I would do...

Not only did I love the extra coverage this option offered but I also loved the connection created when using a man's favourite shirt for the photos.... Admit it, how many of you girls have pulled on your man's t-shirt just because it smelled like him? I have. I still do on occasion...

So His Shirt HER Way was born. An occasion to wear our man's shirt, get pampered, feel sexy & give him a fabulous V-day present...

Last year's event was a BIG success. We had the priviledge to photograph so many ladies... Beautiful in & out. We saw t-shirts, dress shirts, Jerseys and neck ties.... Everyone felt comfortable and most of all, we had fun. Everyone left feeling confident, empowered, and HOT.

And here's the beauty of it.... Every woman gets to decide how far she wants to take it. She calls the shots... More or less coverage.... it's up to her! The best is when we get groups... Put a few women together in a room & all of a sudden they're egging each other on.... So much fun!

We've had SO many women ask us if the event would be back, and now it is! Next week, Feb 2nd, 3rd & 4th. We'll be setting up at Respect is Burning once again offering you an awesome cocktail & a yummy snack! Danielle from Mirage is thrilled to be back making you look FABULOUS. And you'll get your prints in time for Valentine's :) Please call us for more details.

Hope to see you there!

Come here often?

How did you meet? A simple question.... But you learn SO MUCH about a couple from it... Not just the obvious - how they met but how two people relate to each other. I love the twinkle in a bride's eye when she tells her story. And I love the stories themselves. I'm a sucker for them really...

But it's more than that.... I love the silent expressions... Does the couple hold hands when they tell the story?... Do they look at me? Or at each other?... Does she sit at the edge of her seat?... Is there laughter?... Do they bicker about the details?... All these things tell me something about them and help me connect to them.

Shots I took of our table before the craziness began! M.

Every bride needs a ring....

Ring Pops. Don't you just love 'em? Brings me back to when I was a kid... My cousins & I used to wear them and plan our eventual weddings... That's what I thought of when we were putting out our bowl this morning. Ring Pops. That's what we're giving away this weekend. I love watching how people react. Everyone is different and it's so awesome. Some smile, some full-out laugh... Some politely decline the invitation to take one, some hesitate but eventually snag one. Some look around and stuff a couple extras into their bag.... Love it!!

We had such a blast today chatting with brides and their 'posses' today and looking forward to more tomorrow! It's such a great show to be a part of. I really hope our passion was obvious! It's also fun to chat with the other vendors and keep on top of the newest trends in weddings... Here's the thing - I LOVE it when brides feel able to call us, or message us with a questions! So we like to chat with people. That way we know where to get the best possible answers.

One really exciting thing for me today was that it was our first public opportunity to show the world the 'new' Rollins Photography! I'm especially excited about the new card - mostly because my name is on it!!! We were always a team of two but now it just feels more... official. I'm so proud.
Here's to tomorrow!

2009 in review

Wow. What a year! Really kind of wishing that we had started this blog before so we could take a look back... (I know Justin, I know...) This has been a year of change for us. We have spent some time reflecting on what we do - and how we do it. We've been talking a lot about the changes to come and this blog is part of that shift. New logo, new philosophy, new adventures.

We've discovered that we really, truly LOVE weddings - I mean we had TWO of our own this summer.... hehehe. That love for weddings has really translated into a passion for shooting them. This has become our focus. But the main thing is our approach. We have decided to explore the uniqueness of every wedding and illustrate it. Not just with beautiful images, but also with images that really reflect the truth and the magic of the little things.

This for us means getting to know our couples and finding out what makes them tick... I find myself talking about park benches and bus rides and building connections with people. I love my job. We are also opening our lives up to our couples... Welcome to the insanity folks.

Now, no worries - we're still doing portraits. But we are addressing these differently as well. We've learned that our images get better as we get to know our clients so we're asking you all kinds of stuff!

We have had the opportunity to learn from really talented photographers who happen to be pretty amazing people. Thanks Amina & Justin. Thanks to all our photographer friends who continue to inspire us with their awesomeness.

Thanks to the couples who have shared their weddings with us this year and thanks to the families that have let us peek into their lives. It's been a wonderful adventure. We're really looking forward to meeting all kinds of new people this year as well keeping in touch with our friends, old & new. We are also super excited to see some of our couples bring new babies into the world! Ever forward...

Real. Authentic. Meaningful. These are the words that are driving us in 2010.
